how to make a pomegranate martini….2 different recipes

A Pomegranate Martini is a sweet cocktail which is considered quite close to a Cosmopolitan martini. The comparison comes because of the color, sweetness and the fruitiness of the drink.

Though there are quite a few variations of the drink, the general flavor is a combination of orange and pomegranate. The base spirit is often vodka in most variations. The pomegranate flavor is often because of the pomegranate juice or a pomegranate liqueur which is often PAMA.

I will give different recipes for the drink that are variations, but quite different in terms of the ingredients.

Recipe # 1

Liqueur bottles : Vodka, Pama, Cointreau
Ingredients

  • 2  1/2 shots of Vodka
  • 1/2 shot of Cointreau (or a Orange flavored liqueur)
  • 1 shot of  Pomegranate liqueur (PAMA)
  • Lemon peel for garnish

Preparation

  1. Add ice cubes to the martini shaker
  2. Add 2 1/2 (two and a half) shots of vodka into the shaker
  3. Add 1 shot of the Pama pomegranate liqueur to the shaker
  4. Add 1/2 (half) shot of the Cointreau to the shaker
  5. Shake all ingredients well
  6. Strain the contents of the shaker into a chilled cocktail glass
  7. Garnish with a lemon peel

There is variant of the pomegranate martini which is quite different but probably is more popular. It is more fresh tasting and fruitier because of the juice and sparkling water.

  • Sparkling water
  • Squeeze of lemon

Tips

  • You can use other orange liqueurs like Grand Marnier instead of  Cointreau. Triple Sec might also work quite well.
  • You can try other garnishes like pomegranate seeds or an orange peel instead of the lemon peel.
  • Add more or less of the pomegranate juice or the liqueur to modify the sweetness to taste.
